I have been teaching movement literacy and spinal wellness from the perspective of the Pilates method since 1998, fully certified in the training systems of Stott and Pilates Academy International (PAI)

My experience spans commercial gyms, private and boutique studios, corporate facilities, and academic institutions; versed on Balanced Body, Peak, Stott, CoreAlign, and Redcord equipment systems. I have had the pleasure to have colleagues from a variety of training systems, all with valuable substance to be shared among the instructor community.

My pedagogy is one that approaches Pilates first and foremost as a Practice - with a capital "P".  It is a Practice because one never just does Pilates, one is always practicing Pilates.  It is on-going, continuous, and progressive. Each time you resume your practice, it is not to merely repeat what you did the previous time, but to further develop its depth, breadth, and clarity.

In addition to any of the identified principles of Pilates, my immediate objectives in sharing the Pilates method with students and clients is to**:

  • increase circulation

  • decrease compression

      and inflammation

cultivate:

  • long muscular strength

  • fluid joint mobility

  • dynamic power and control

foster the values of:

  • precision

  • purpose

  • intention

  • integrity

build and maintain the skills of:

  • maximum ambulatory functionality

  • balance

  • coordination

  • among others...

**none of these objectives are cited medically endorsed claims, or substitutes for sanctioned medical diagnoses from a licensed medical professional

my background

As a professional dancer my body was fatigued and over-trained. After yet another round of my back "going out", and the pleas of one my medical providers to look into Pilates, I entered my first Pilates mat class to rehab my body.  It worked.

The opportunity to become a certified instructor presented itself and I took it.  My original training was through the Stott system of Pilates. I subsequently became an instructor and teacher-trainer representing the Pilates Academy International system.
